Bolsheviki - A READING
The play Bolsheviki by the late celebrated Quebec playwright David Fennario is the personal account of a WW1 vet told using humour, wit and unapologetic honesty. Harry ‘Rosie’ Rollins gives a candid interview to a journalist in a Montréal hotel on Remembrance Day 1977. His re-telling of the mindless slaughter of WW1 begs comparison to the role of our troops in Afghanistan.
This is not a sentimental play about the ‘nation building’ of Vimy Ridge, but rather a play that offers us the truth from the point of view of the trenches.
“Robert King is a fantastic actor. His performance is magnificent in Bolsheviki and if you miss it you will regret it. From the minute he makes his way through the audience to the stage, this man has you in the palm of his hand” - The Rover17-11-1010
